MOZI and the New Frontier of Adaptive Radiotherapy: Tema Sinergie’s Strategic Role in the Distribution Agreement Between Manteia Technologies and PTW Freiburg

10 April 2026

In the ever-evolving landscape of radiotherapy, innovation is driven not only by technological advancement, but also—and above all—by strategic collaborations capable of accelerating its global adoption. It is within this context that the partnership between Tema Sinergie and Manteia Technologies (Xiamen, China) takes shape, going far beyond a simple distribution agreement for the Italian market.

A Key Role Across the EMEA Region

Tema Sinergie’s experience in the highly specialized field of radiotherapy treatment planning systems—Manteia Technologies’ core business—dates back more than 30 years, when it acted as the Italian distributor of some of the very first systems introduced to the market. Today, Tema Sinergie relies on a team of experts with unique and highly specialized skills, ranging from customized system implementation tailored to specific clinical workflows, to continuous technical support. These capabilities are extremely attractive to users of such systems and are a key factor behind Tema Sinergie’s strong success in this field.

This is why Manteia Technologies has selected Tema Sinergie as its strategic partner for business development across the EMEA region. Within this partnership, Tema Sinergie takes on the roles of Business Development and Customer Support, encompassing a wide range of activities—from identifying and onboarding the most suitable local distributors in each country, to providing them with comprehensive technical and commercial support for both pre-sales and post-sales activities.

This commitment has recently led to a major milestone: following significant mediation efforts by Tema Sinergie, a distribution agreement between PTW Freiburg and Manteia Technologies has been successfully finalized. Under this agreement, Tema Sinergie will provide PTW Freiburg (and its subsidiaries) with full technical and commercial support on behalf of Manteia Technologies. This role further strengthens Tema Sinergie’s positioning as a strategic partner in the modern radiotherapy landscape.

The agreement covers a vast geographical area, including more than 40 countries across Northern, Central, and Southern Europe, as well as some of the most developed nations in Africa.

MOZI: Bringing Innovation into Clinical Practice

At the core of this collaboration is MOZI, a solution developed by Manteia Technologies, which is redefining the concept of radiotherapy treatment planning. MOZI enables patient-specific customization and adaptation on a daily basis, prior to each treatment session.

From the outset, the key arguments used by Tema Sinergie to convince PTW Freiburg to include MOZI in its portfolio were its objectively unique performance capabilities. This solution can transform a standard LINAC into an online adaptive radiotherapy system, making the benefits of adaptive radiotherapy directly accessible within routine clinical practice—with no need for complex infrastructure or radical investments—while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and seamless integration with existing technologies.

One Platform, Multiple Innovations

During the first official webinar dedicated to MOZI, PTW Freiburg introduced the new partnership before focusing on the system’s capabilities, highlighting how it integrates advanced functionalities into a single environment to address key clinical needs:

  • AI-based auto-contouring for all anatomical regions
  • Auto-planning with progressive Machine Learning for automated dose optimization
  • Native, high-performance GPU-based Monte Carlo dose calculation
  • AI-driven Online Adaptive Radiotherapy with customizable workflows

This integrated approach simplifies processes, enhances treatment quality, and improves operational efficiency.

A Highly Successful Webinar

The remarkable success of the dedicated webinar, which attracted more than 260 participants from across Europe, corroborates the interest towards these technologies.

The speakers included leading experts in the field:

  • Dr. Daniela Eulenstein (née Poppinga) – PTW Freiburg
MOZI – The latest advancements in planning technology
  • Prof. Dr. Björn Poppe – University of Oldenburg
MOZI – Intuitive and smart workflow-driven planning
  • Prof. Dr. Savino Cilla – Responsible Research Hospital
Implementing online adaptive radiotherapy on a standard C-arm LINAC

Looking Ahead

This partnership marks a broad step toward making radiation oncology increasingly accessible, intelligent, and integrated. Tema Sinergie’s key contribution—first as facilitator and mediator, and then as a provider of technical and commercial support to local distributors—is a cornerstone in supporting the dissemination of MOZI and adaptive radiotherapy across the EMEA region.

Looking ahead, the objective is clear: to bring this innovation into everyday clinical practice, concretely improving treatment quality and, ultimately, patients’ quality of life.
